The Black and Indian Mission Collection
For more than 140 years, the annual Black and Indian Mission Collection has supported the Church’s efforts to evangelize the African American, Native American, and Alaska Native communities in the United States. This year’s collection will take place on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
The Black and Indian Mission Office has administered the annual national collection since 1884. Grants from this collection support dioceses, schools, and religious education programs that are directly involved in evangelization efforts across the country.
The Diocese of Raleigh recently received grant money through this collection to help provide tuition assistance for children of African American and Native American ancestry attending Catholic schools across the diocese. This is just one way the annual collection serves dioceses and organizations across the United States.
